It’s Tuesday and I am hating these ends, even more so then when I complained during the P.Y.E challenge! As I watch the clock wind…Continue

I wore my last protective style for awhile this weekend. I went out of town to the hotsprings, so I wanted something quick and that would last in the pool.
I made a twisted side ponytail into a twisted side bun ( has twist on one side and hair rolled back on the other) . Inspired by this video:Continue
So today is the next to last day of the challenge and I decided to use my freebie and wear my hair out! I couldn’t wait! Earlier in the week I wore this style, ends well protected.…Continue

This week is pretty much the same as last week. I still got braids in and doing "high" buns.
My scalp is becoming itchy and either getting product build up (or having low porosity issues) or dandruff so will be washing tomorrow.
I also been experimenting with putting on OM twist mist before showering so the steam can help with moisturizing. Usually steam makes my hair frizzy but wrapping in a scarf for a few minutes solves that. And my scalp and hair have felt pretty good using…Continue

It’s week 9 of the challenge and I’m still on travel so I’m still rocking my bun…I love it though! It’s full and big and easy; certainly not a style I have to sleep pretty to maintain. Tomorrow I plan to re-moisturize, seal and braid up my hair. I am really excited about the end of the challenge. Normally, I wear my…Continue
This week, I continued to wear my hair in the "Crown & Glory" style
We are two months into the challenge. Up to this point, I have:

Week 7! We are half way through the challenge and I am very happy with the results thus far! Though I can’t say I’ve plotted my growth, I can happily say I am still retaining the hair I do have
For this week’s recap, check out the link :) Crown & Glory Hairstyle…Continue

Sorry for not updating every week like I said I would. School is really picking up and my 30 page Masters Thesis Project isn't going to write itself (I wish tho :/ lol).
Even though I've been busy I've been sticking to the PYE challenge as well as my other beauty and health goals. In order to achieve the look that I want when Spring/Summer gets here; I've been protective styling, working out and eating well to promote healthy hair and skin.
I have however been disappointed in…Continue

Okay, Week 3 brings something new to see. I'm finally making some styling changes this week. Baby's braids are out and my wigs is off. So I thought. I decided to experiement a little. A few months back I RAN to target to purchase the Curls "Fierce, Fabulous & Finally Free Transitioning Kit!" And at that time I was still transitioning and not feeling fierce or fab or free after using the products. However this was also the point in my transition when I begining to get frustrated with the…Continue

So uh...this is week 3 of the challenge, and I didn't wash, deep condition, and restyle my hair this Sunday :-| Shoot me! Guilty as charged!Continue
The hecticity (I know that is not a word- sue me) of the holiday season is now over I am back on schedule. No late post this week.
I guess I can start with Baby (and yes I know she is 6 years old but she is still MY baby-lol) Because I had her hair braided last week, her styling will has changed. I like to keep her hair braid for at least 2 weeks when it is cornrowed. However because she has dry skin (ezcema) her scalp does need cleaning as well as moisture needs to be adeed to the…Continue

Ok, so this week has been rough. Not rough trying to protect my ends, but rough physically. I've been ill this week (what else is new) and haven't been really motivated to really style my hair but nevertheless, I remembered to stick with the challenge.
I decided to try the yarn braids this week and for my first try I did well. I followed instructions on you tube; before putting the yarn in my hair, I moisturized the yarn and my hair. The braids to were not at all tight the length was not too much longer than my own hair. I did the two yarn strand braid. I noticed…Continue

I'm pretty happy with the first week of the protective challenge.
I co-washed with Hello Hydration conditoner and detangled with my fingers.
I rinsed and applied some Mane & Tale conditioner while in the shower.
Rinsed and applied aloe vera gel to dripping wet hair.
I then place my hair in about 6 twists to air dry.
At about 60% dry I did a flat twist style.
Parted straight across the top of my…Continue

Though I loved the style I wore at earlier this week, it was difficult to maintain without restyling in the morning.

So I didn't do any blogging during the holidays so forgive me, but I was so busy with family friends and holiday cheer.
My hair care regimen is pretty much the same but my products often change because I am a product junkie.
Our wash day is Sunday. I always begin with a preproo/deep conditioner , followed by a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and oil sealent. The styling agents I user depend on the style I am going for.
On 12/24/2011 I went to the…Continue
