So I decided to try Bantu knots again. I had had my hair in about 10 French braids to the back as I’d had a wig on for a week. So I took them down using just some VO5 Strawberry conditioner. I then did 13 Bantu knots, adding a little Garnier Pure & Clean Gel. I did it all with my hands did not need to use any comb or brush.…Continue

Purple hair. All I wanted was purple hair.
Nothing to obnoxious, but a nice deep plum color. The first five or so color attempts resulted in a barely noticeable tint of burgundy; so the next step was to bleach the hair. Man, did I bleach the mashugana out of my hair...
I was aware of all the warnings against coloring and bleaching, and happily ignored them all because I envisioned myself with a beautiful head of colored hair, and the confident attitude…Continue

I started my locs myself, in October. I hid them under my box braids for until Christmas. I can proudly say it was the best decision I've ever made.
I started them with two strand twists but some of them were interlocked from ends to root. In order to maintain my hair I wash my locs every week or week and a half (my scalp gets unbearably itchy no matter what I do) and do a combination of palm rolling and interlocking with a latch hook. I do that every month or whenever they need to…Continue

Lately I have been doing a homemade avocado and honey deep conditioner. This has given my hair so much needed moisture!
1 ripe avocado
1tbsp olive oil
Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit and the avocado from the shell. Blend the avocado until it's pureed' (smooth). Add honey and olive oil and mix. On freshly washed hair, part hair into 4 sections and add starting from the ends working your way up. Twist or plat the section and…Continue

So I took out those havana twists, and they were only in for about a week .. [weren't holding up well] and I've gained some growth. Although my scalp and hair was always dry .. ironic right? I'll guess I'll make that aloe vera spritz a staple. So now the puff is back!
Earlier today I was having a conversation with my little brother and he asked me, "How long you plan on being natural?" & I said "Umm, for the rest of my life." It was then I realized that being natural is…Continue

I wish I had a really cool story to tell you about my natural hair journey and how it began but I don’t LOL. I have always had long, thick permed hair that grew very quickly. I didn’t wantto perm my hair every time I had new growth and so I would perm my hair about 3 times a year. I guess you can say that I took good care of my hair even then, I washed once a week and did roller sets often so that I wouldn't use too much heat on my hair.…Continue

My first ACV rinse
1- 1 tablespoon of ACV per 1 Cup water, 2 teaspoon lemon juice. I used water bottles so since each has roughly 2 cups water I just doubled the above Per bottle. I made up 3 bottles worth for my hair. (I only used 2 kept the other in the fridge below is before I added water) They…Continue
