I'm sad the challenge is over. I can't believe it's been 90 days! This challenge taught me alot about patience, the importance of protective styling and being open to new looks. I really appreciate tis Challenge and look forward to doing more. I'll definitely continue protective styling this spring into summer can't wait to see the continues results :)
Happy Growing Ladies :)
So today is the next to last day of the challenge and I decided to use my freebie and wear my hair out! I couldn’t wait! Earlier in the week I wore this style, ends well protected.…Continue

I am glad I found this blog. I started my natural hair journey July 2011. I got tired of flat ironing my hair.
I love reading blogs about natural hair. I also have a blog I started called Allnaturalblackcurls.com. Lots of good information, and facts about me.

For the 4 Weeks, I've been on travel non-stop; I have been neglectful in posting my updates for the challenge. Though I have been a full participant, wearing only protective styles and taken pictures to show the style, I haven't been updating like I should have.
For weeks 10 and 11, I wore my hair in…Continue

I finally did it. I took my braids down and will be wearing my hair in a bush so to speak. It was time. I felt my hair needed the rest and I started noticing that my hair was getting sparse in some places. I had gotten lazy and was not maintaining my hair. It took me two days and some soul searching about taking down my hair. Number 1, I was still in school and how would my peers would react (In truth, I really didn’t care. I just didn’t want all the silly questions). Since I work…Continue

When I joined this site, I was simply trying to follow the posts of others. I didn't realize that I too could post my thoughts and experiences.
My hair is sometimes difficult to manage and easy to frizz. It is relaxed, even though it doesn't always look like it. It seems to like for me to wash it weekly and likes to be curled. I've had some recent breakage and know that I need to spend some time pampering my hair. I started a new routine last night and thought I would…Continue

PYE Challenge: Length Retention Part 2
This is just a picture update from the last post I made about my hair growth. This picture was taken after I took my small twists out and dry detangled my hair. Unfortunately, I don't have a before pic, but…Continue

It’s kinda hard to keep up with these blogs these days, partly because I am increasingly busy and partly because I feel like I’m being repetitive. #Sigh. What can I do? Anyways I’m here again with another update and another style. After enjoying three weeks of loosely curled 10” hair I decided to do yet another weave. Before weaving I washed and conditioned my hair with the regular: Mane and Tail. I did a hot oil treatment as well as a deep conditioning. After the weave…Continue
This week is pretty much the same as last week. I still got braids in and doing "high" buns.
My scalp is becoming itchy and either getting product build up (or having low porosity issues) or dandruff so will be washing tomorrow.
I also been experimenting with putting on OM twist mist before showering so the steam can help with moisturizing. Usually steam makes my hair frizzy but wrapping in a scarf for a few minutes solves that. And my scalp and hair have felt pretty good using…Continue

Hello lovelies :)
The crochet braids have been such a help this week. I have to wear my hair up at work so I've been wearing them in a ponytail for the most part. I got to wear them down and out this weekend when i roadtripped to go see friends for st. patricks day. The good thing is, I didn't have to worry about doing anything more to my hair than oiling my scalp so it didn't get dry!
I won't lie, this synthetic hair isn't my best friend right now,…Continue

well this is my 1st post :)
i have a question... My hair is so curly that I swear as I go throughout the day my hair gets curlier and curlier. At the end of the day the knots kill me because I am so tender headed :( Does anyone a really good detangler cream or anything? or something to make my curls a bit more loose?

I know I’m a little late posting than I usually am but I had so many things to do this past week and weekend... To start, my sister christened the baby on Sunday, so all week I was trying to prepare the house for the guests. I had to do some of the cooking as well and to boot we lost an hour of…Continue

Doing my 1st yarn braids
So I did my yarn braids- LOL I’m at 22.05 hours and not finished yet-got a small part in the front that I estimate another 4 hours to do max. If you can get help I suggest you do when putting these in, I didn’t even do mine that long, in fact they are about the same length as my real hair. But the twisting etc on my back, neck and hands was a mess.
I did the 22 hours between Sat and Sunday. Below is what I did. I also trimmed my ends…Continue
