About My Hair!!

I started my locs myself, in October. I hid them under my box braids for until Christmas. I can proudly say it was the best decision I've ever made.

I started them with two strand twists but some of them were interlocked from ends to root. In order to maintain my hair I wash my locs every week or week and a half (my scalp gets unbearably itchy no matter what I do) and do a combination of palm rolling and interlocking with a latch hook. I do that every month or whenever they need to…

Avocado and Honey Homemade Deep Conditioner

Lately I have been doing a homemade avocado and honey deep conditioner. This has given my hair so much needed moisture!

1 ripe avocado

1tbsp honey

1tbsp olive oil

Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit and the avocado from the shell. Blend the avocado until it's pureed' (smooth). Add honey and olive oil and mix. On freshly washed hair, part hair into 4 sections and add starting from the ends working your way up. Twist or plat the section and…

YAY!

So I took out those havana twists, and they were only in for about a week .. [weren't holding up well] and I've gained some growth. Although my scalp and hair was always dry .. ironic right? I'll guess I'll make that aloe vera spritz a staple.  So now the puff is back!

Earlier today I was having a conversation with my little brother and he asked me, "How long you plan on being natural?" & I said "Umm, for the rest of my life." It was then I realized that being natural is…

My Natural Hair Journey

I wish I had a really cool story to tell you about my natural hair journey and how it began but I don’t LOL.  I have always had long, thick permed hair that grew very quickly. I didn’t wantto perm my hair every time I had new growth and so I would perm my hair about 3 times a year. I guess you can say that I took good care of my hair even then, I washed once a week and did roller sets often so that I wouldn't use too much heat on my hair.…

Coconut oil in your shampoo and conditioner?

So, as an experiment I added my favorite oil (coconut) to my shampoo, conditioner and leave-in.

Shampoo: Selsun Blue

Conditioner: TRESemme Anti-Sponge

Leave-In: Cantu Shea butter

While the Selsun works well for my dandruff, it can be a bit drying, which us why I dilute it, and more recently, add coconut oil.

The result? More moisturised hair and better looking hairstyles, in my opinion.

The conditioners (rinse-out and leave-in), felt fluffy and… Continue

Progress

So i haven't had a extra straight flat iron or press to see my hair length but from what I can see and when I stretch my hair with my hand I actually think I'm already touching waist length however I am going to say I need 1 more inch to be "fully" at waist length.

Below is just comparison pics Dec 12 (gray) and April 13 (brown) I definitely think it grew about two inches actually, because my hair again was not bone straight and puffs back up shortly after I flat ironed lol…

How do I get my hair to grow 1-2 inches monthly guaranteed?

Hello lovelies!  I'm so glad I found this site and I hope I can get results from my engagement.  My name is Malinda and I have been natural for about 14 years.  My hair, of course, should be so much longer by now, but I went through a lot of mishaps that caused me to start over several times until I finally realized how to manage my hair so that it looked healthy and sexy at the same time.

I started out using products that kept my hair coated, but left buildup in my hair.  I…
